Have been using Virgin for a number of years and followed this site for a while, but since recently attaining gold status I thought I had better start posting some trip reports.
Uneventful checkin at around 7am, and quickly through security. Arrived at lounge, welcomed by name and shown around as had not used Gatwick lounge for a couple of years - was slightly bigger than I remembered! Rather a surly initial service as if she was really doing me a favour, but redhead and breakfast were good. Luckily server seemed to disappear and was replaced by someone much friendlier and more attentive! Five redheads (oops!) later and it was time to board.
Champagne consumed and long taxi - left pretty much on time. At this point things really became overshadowed by the excellent service of probably the nicest and most attentive crew I have ever had. I would mention them by name but I didn't get permission to do so. But honestly, was greeted by name throughout and nothing was too much trouble. It certainly made me forget the rather bland beef and dessert (cheese was excellent!). The wine (Malbec) was also very good and my glass was not allowed to go empty at all.
Sat at the bar for a while chatting to crew, about Orlando and other destinations. For first time in ages, I felt genuinely happy to be travelling Virgin! Reminded me what it was all about.
Time passed quickly, had a short nap and watched a bit of 'The Heat' (funnyish) - then Afternoon Tea. Preferred the new 'full' sandwich triangles rather than the fingers that used to be served. Scone was nice (warm) and cakes ok, bit too sweet.
Time to land, crew again chatty as waiting to disembark and then only 30 mins later was in my limo to Disneyworld!!!
Return trip will follow if I haven't bored everyone to death. All in all, a great flight, made really excellent by an absolutely outstanding crew.
