This was my first trip to vegas and lets just say it was not a disappointment.

We arrived at Gatwick the evening before to use the twilight check in. We were the only ones in the bag drop area but this was at around 8pm.

We received no welcome from the agent at the desk who was to check us in just a look. We walked over and asked if we could check in for the Vegas flight the following morning.

We were asked for our passports and then to place our baggage on the scales. We were not asked where we would like to sit on the aircraft only issued boarding passes. Ok I could have asked for where we were to be sat but did not think of this at the time.

The agent then handed us the normal us customs declaration and stated and circled the boarding gate and time.

We then trundled off to the Premier Inn north terminal (connected) for a great nights sleep and an excellent meal in their restaurant also. I once again stand by this hotel great little treasure and doesn't have half the cost of the sofitel or the Hilton and if so much better.

On the morning of the flight we headed through security three hours prior to the departure time and it was fairly empty in the security area but took about ten minutes to get through which was not too bad.

The departures lounge and shops were all quite empty considering the time of day.

We had a spot of breakfast at the bridge bar which as always is pleasant and great value for money and get a view of landing aircraft and those on the stands at the South and North Terminals.

We were called on time and boarded early.

Upon boarding the aircraft everything was ready and it was a nice easy simple boarding and no hassle or kerfuffle with bags / people standing in the aisles.

We were travelling on Pretty Woman and this was my first time on this aircraft.

We pushed back 10-15 minutes early and took off fairly quickly.

About 5 minutes into the air the drinks round began and then the meal service follow about 15 minutes later.

Once the meal service had completed the cabin lights were dimmed and passengers were advised that they could spread around the cabin should they wish but if they were to use a beige coloured seat it would be a £30 charge.

It was approximately 1 and a half hours prior to landing that we were issued with the afternoon snack / tea and this was all very nice and including the local company to Gatwick who produce the cupcakes as always fabulous job.

It was a smooth 10 and 3/4 hour flight from Gatwick to LAS and the crew could not do enough to ensure that the flight and your experience was exceptional.

Upon arrival at LAS it was a speedy departure and we were away with about a twenty minute delay at the border but bags were awaiting us when we had got through.

I had read on here about the drinks service on the LAS flight being suspended quite regularly or not available to economy passengers.

On the journey out and on the return alcohol was served to all passengers throughout a majority of the flight. At the 7 hour point on the outward bound leg we were informed that no more alcoholic drinks would be issued due to the need to preserve them for the return leg of the route for the aircraft.

Overall this was a fabulous experience in economy, to which I have not travelled since 2007, and I can't complain really about most of the flight.

Thanks for the TR y) y)

It is good to hear about the Premier Inn at Gatwick as it is so close and obviously can be much cheaper than the Hilton (which does appear to be in need of a refurb). Although I live so close and therefore unlikely to stay there, I may have cause to use it for family when they travel.

Also, it is good to have Reports from ther Economy cabin; V Flyer is a useful resource for those embarking on their first VS flight, so your info is important

Thanks once again

Thank you for the TR. It is really nice to read that VS can still produce a good service in economy. So glad you enjoyed it. And I ,too, was interested to read about the Premier Inn.
