Picked up a baggage cart - $5!!!! what a swizz, and proceeded to checkin, which didnt open till 2:30. Ho hum.
Waited around, checked in, and got my invite to the clubhouse. Took a quick wander around the little museum, quite interesting.
Clubhouse as expected , and sampled the clubhouse burger, which now comes with fries!! potato crisps was just wrong i have to say.
Spent a couple of hours watching planes landing and taking off and left before being called for the flight, for another quick nosey around the museum then off to security. Wow, used the priority lane, and was through in 2 minutes, no queueing (well not for me anyway), and took the short walk to the boarding gate.
Boarding was very quick, i managed to get on first and get some photos of UC before anyone else got in the pics. Although just humble red member (silver as of this trip for what its worth), i was greeted by name, and crew couldnt be helpful enough, very very attentive indeed, beginning and all the way through the flight.
The plane was pretty empty in all but UC, i think they said 250 people on board, so the usual announcement went out about economy passengers staying in their assigned seats until take off, this is my third time on this flight, and this seems very common, I guess people come to SF and love the place and don't go home?
Food on the flight was pretty tasty, i took the option of the crab with mango salsa, followed by the veggy curry, then finishing up with the Honey cheesecake. mmm very nice.
Settled in with my paper book reading this time with "fighter pilot" memoirs Col Robin Olds - a triple ace. Very interesting and enteraining book. I like paper, as i seem to spend all my life looking at screens, and flying is the one place i don't have to have one in my face - Heaven.
Read for a couple of hours, then managed a good four or five hours sleep which is very unusual for me. It was almost time for breakfast and i had a surprisingly good bacon butty, and a fairly wimpy (after US standards) croissant, with a ghiradelli hot chocolate.
About an hour later we came in for landing, the weather was gorgeous and the views of london were pretty amazing.
A very quick landing and trip to the gate, where paramedics had to deal with an ill patient then de-boarding. A quick stroll to immigration where i got invited to use the e-passports booth, skipping a hell of a queue at the normal booths. Very quick and soon through to the baggage hall. Another 2 minute wait and my bags came off the carousel, and i was out in the fresh air again!
All in all a very good and comfortable flight, cabin crew were pretty stunning and very attentive, i think my best yet.
Just a shame Dad's taxi was a bit slow coming to pick me up!
