I was the first one on the plane and I was warmly welcomed by one of the CSS, who showed me to my seat (easy one entering the plane from L1!)
Champagne offered and accepted. Contrarily to my flight out, the aircraft was almost completely full and UC was definitely full. Push-back 10 minutes early, surprisingly short taxi and take off. Service started pretty quickly and the 5 cabin crew taking care of us were all superb ! The FSM in particular worked really hard to rectify technical issues with the sound on the IFE and never lost his good mood and smile over the whole process. Food was generally good but again the dessert was the absolute winner for the whole experience ! Pineapple Upside Down cake ... A triumph !
Service had to be stopped at some point as most of our path over Afghanistan was very bumpy and mostly inside pretty dark clouds ... Once out of it, I wasn't in the mood to watch a film so headed to the bar where I spent most of the rest of the flight and met a few very interesting people with amongst them the COO of a very large UK retailer that I shall not name. We all had a very good time, talking and laughing while wine, champagne and cocktails were provided continuously by some of the best cabin crew I've ever had the chance to fly with. Too soon, it was time to get back to our seats, in preparation for landing. All in all for me, this has to be the best flight I've ever taken with Virgin or any other airline.
I've made sure that the deserving crew members get some recognition for their amazing job.
My next flight in UC will be in January to LA and can't wait already !
