This was our fourth year flying GLA - MCO with VS. We had managed to allocate seats 6A/K onboard the B747.

We booked into the Holiday Inn at GLA the night before which is located across from the main terminal building. We got up on the morning of our flight and had a leisurely breakfast before heading over to bag drop.

Check in was quick and effortless as it is normally for UC. We were told by check in staff that the flight was going to be busy and that the UC and PE cabins were both full. We used the Priority Security line which saved us a lot of time, especially with the volume of passengers.

We made our way to the shared lounge - The Sky Lounge "Business Wing". What a disappointment!! By far the worst lounge I have experienced. (I think even the tiny Servisair Lounge at Inverness Airport is better than this lounge). I appreciate that it is a shared lounge, however it is very poor with a very small selection of crisps/crackers etc and the staff are far from welcoming. EK are currently constructing their own lounge, and with a bit of luck, VS will use this when complete.

We weren't in the lounge for long before being called for boarding. We arrived at the gate and Ruby Tuesday was being loaded with luggage etc.

We boarded and immediately after taking our seats, the FSM approached us and apologised that the IFE at 6A wasn't working. They had apparently been aware of the fault at Gatwick but could not rectify the problem. Mrs J was issued a portable DVD player, which to be honest was fine. We don't tend to watch all that much whilst flying anyway.

We departed on time and the flight was fantastic. Lunch was lovely and there was an ever ending flow of alcohol heading my way. The FSM again came and apologised for the problem with the IFE. Mrs J was given £40.00 VS vouchers and credited with 12,000 miles :)

The flight was extremely busy with 450 seats being filled, leaving 5 vacant (according to the FSM).

Prior to afternoon tea, I tried to raise my seat from the reclined position, however it would move. There was no power going to the unit. A couple of CC attempted to reset the seat, however, it was not budging. It wasn't a problem for me as it was probably in the most comfortable position anyway and I sat with Mrs J for the tea service.

The FSM returned and (again) apologised for the seating issue. I was also gifted the same as Mrs J, £40.00 VS vouchers and 12,000 miles. (I wasn't even complaining regarding the seat).

We landed 25 minutes early at MCO behind the LGW and MAN flights, however we were asked to use the automated security machines at customs, which we were happy to do. After about 20 minutes after disembarkation, we were through customs and on our way to Alamo.

With the exception of the IFE and the issue with my seat (which didn't really bother us), it was a faultless flight. The CC could not have been more helpful and attentive.

Another great flight with VS!!!

Will post the TR for our return shortly.

Thanks for the TR, always nice to see them from Glasgow!

Check-in now back in the main terminal so an even shorter walk for you, shame they don’t do twilight check-in. While I’ve never had an issue with The Sky Lounge (I’ve been in worse) but if you’re flying Upper Class it is no Clubhouse and would be a terrible disappointment. The EK lounge is due to open in July and although it’s a nice thought I doubt if VS will be able to get access to it.

I’m surprised at the flight being so busy especially in May but it’s now starting to explain why the prices are so much more expensive than last year despite the larger aircraft now on the route. They went from 2x two class A330s last year to 2x three class 747s so I’m glad to see they are filling them. Maybe time for a 3rd weekly flight especially June-Aug.

Look forward to the return report. y)
