Hi guys n gals.

I am going to London to see the Diana Concert in June/July.

Originally I booked in at The Meridien, but have changed it to the Trafalger sq Hilton, anyone know what its like, it was £300 cheaper.

How do I go about booking The Ritz for afternnon tea, I know its not value for money but i want to do it.

Is the london eye worth a whirl.

Are there any decent boat trips.

I will be getting 4 tickets for the concert but only need two, what are my chances of ofloading the two spare ones without using Ebay.

I beleive you can book the ritz tea on their website.

I loved the London Eye when i did it a few years ago some great views on a clear day.

We went on the London eye recently and booked it for sunset, the view was amazing and I highly recommend it. Don't forget the camera !

EGG - you can make an afternoon tea reservastion here.

I agree with what others have said about the London Eye, its def worth a go if it is a clear day, but if they is a fair amount of cloud I would totally give it a miss. The first time we went on it it was partly cloudy and the views were not very good at all.

Agree with the others on the Eye front. Well worth the moolah if a fine day.

My Mrs. likes Tea At The Ritz as a treat so much she's done it several times.

If you're at all of a foodie orientation and can find the time, head down to Borough Market at London Bridge.

River trips to Greenwich are fun and they show you a different side of the City; not quite sure of the veracity of the tales told during the trip, mind.

Mrs. Stoneman at the Ritz. £35 per person, usually have to book 6 weeks in advance. You can stay at the table for 1 1/2 hours as there are several seatings

EGG call the Ritz on 020 7493 8181 and ask for afternoon tea reservations, talking to a real person is so much more satisyfing.

I am shocked though at the 1 1/2 rule, admittedly it's a long time since I've been and in the past you could stay as long as you like!

Don't forget, the Ritz dress code is very strict - when they say jacket and tie they really mean it and you will be turned away if you are not appropriately dressed!

As for the London Eye, 100% yes. BTW if you book online you can queue jump for an extra £5 - this is worth it if a) it's likely to be a busy weekend or BH day or the sun is out ... any time of day is fab, sunset particularly but I like the light in the height of the day for clearest views, sometimes you can see Heathrow!

Boat trips - Tate to Tate is excellent but you have to want to be at Tate Britain for the start or finish, otherwise if time allows Westminster to Greenwich is excellent, you see so much of London and the river and London's history - and there's a lot to do in Greenwich too.

I love the long bar at the Trafalgar Hilton, great scene and cocktails - but it is irritating because they often host private parties and even hotel guests can't use it. Criminal! You may want to check with them that there are no clashes. However the roof bar in June/July should be fun.

If you can't get in to tea at the Ritz, you could always do tea at Claridges instead - not done either, but supposed to be excellent! Or how about having a drink in the Rivoli bar in the Ritz? Still need to dress smartly, but you don't have to book. Can't vouch for the prices.... and my former boss did the refurb there a few years back.....[^]

London eye well worth it espicially with champagne truffles and the pod to yourself
