Oh dear - did they get it horribly wrong? According to a BBC News poll (
here) they did.
Was choosing a picture of Lisa Simpson on her knees in front of an athlete really a good idea?

Brilliant! I hadn't seen that until you pointed it out, Mat. [oo][:I]
And, yes - I do think that have got it badly wrong. Style over substance , yet again. [n]

I actually quite like it[:I] Its way better than the long armed thing that Beijing chose and it another 5years time I think it will still look modern.

Personally it reminds me too much of the early 80s (think 'Going Live' title screens, Miami Vice, etc). Far too much like an embarrassing dad at a wedding trying to breakdance.

Look, it only cost £400k so we couldn't exactly expect a world class logo....

The fact people are having epileptic fits watching the promo video doesn't bode well.

Didn't they look at the website of the agency they used? Really not impressed!

Part of the flashing logo has already been pulled from the web site and probably wont make it to TV as well as it's failed the 'Harding FPA machine test' and does not meet the OfCom guidelines for flashing images as it's been reported the flashing image is causing seizures. [:0]

'reader logo one' on that bbc link (picture 3) is excellent (well it is winning the poll)...
The way that 2012 is blended into the 'Lon' of 'London' is really clever.

Its fine - whatever they did would have been criticised.
Crack on!!

I'm sorry but I don't like the new logo, total waste of £400,000!

I could have easily designed something better than that for 4 pounds let alone 400,000. It has no symbolic meaning as far as I can tell. Apparently there's something in there, but if there is it's sure not obvious.

Oh, that's quality. [y]
The 2012 BJ - is that going to be one of the events?

I like it. But then I also like the idea of calling an airline 'Virgin'.

Just one small problem - that interpretation would mean I endorse the London Olympics, and unfortunately I don't. I can think of far more useful things to spend at least £9.6bn on, and given the governments track record of delivering on time and on budget....
We 'won' the olympics did we? Interesting definition of 'won' there....
Thanks,
Richard

Now that is spooky, LadyS and I were talking about that the other day for the next residence. She wants acreage for her pet sheep, and I wanted space for a heliport.
Thanks,
Richard

Sorry, folks! Much as I like both yourself and her Ladyship I have no intention of taking up residence in Mannion Towers.
Ba-a-a-ah!

Are you suggesting that I am not acquainted with grace and sophistication? Forsooth, man! I ingested it with my mother's milk! [V]
And as for succulent shanks......well you obviously have not seen my thighs!! [:w]

I cannot be alone in thinking it's the other way around [:0]
Pete that was great...so I guess this has to lead to the question...where is everyone running to in the summer of 2012..no way I would stay in London during this mess.

Thats it - we get the opportunity to stage the Olympics for the first time since 1948 and now everything is a problem - it really makes me mad!! I am proud that we have the Olympics, I was proud when we won it and I will be proud if we have the World Cup here some day.
I heard a radio interview the yesterday with some Tory twot who just slated the whole thing, FFS lets get behind it and lets embrace the whole event intstead of being our usual english selves and seeing the glass as half empty!!
And why will it be "a mess"?
