Flown but gone

TWA
Pan Am
Eastern
Western
Dan Air
Laker
B-Cal
National

What about ones that never made it? Nexus? Never heard of them since.

Oooh, and what about that lad from Oxford who was going to "revolutionise air travel" from his bedroom a couple years ago?

Well I am sitting here reminiscing about the way it used to be.

Even though it didn't have the flat seats TWA's ambassador cabin was hard to beat.

JetMagic was a lovely little airline that flew out of ORK. We flew to Milan and had freshly cut sandwiches and all kinds of cakes and Hagen-Daas ice-cream as well as wine. Kids were invited into the cockpit and Aer John was invitd to sit in the jump-seat for landing in ORK

Crikey - I've just realised, I flew with these guys when I was a kid. I remember keeping the little paper coaster as a souvenier on our way back.

OMG - I've gone somewhere in my memory that I'd obviously blocked... [:0]

Yup, good one, and Dan Air were a fave of ours back when I was a young 'un.

Add Air UK Leisure to the list ... Sat in the Jump Seat of one of their 767's into Gatwick in the late 90's.

Well this got me thinking, here's a few "been & gone" that I've done ex Gatwick mainly back in the 80's/90's - who remembers the Calair /Novair thing, I think I'm right in saying that when Caledonian disappeared their DC10's went to Calair and then on to Novair?

Peach Air
Cal Air
British Island Airways
Air UK Leisure
Ambassador
British Airtours
Air Europe
Novair
Flying Colours

Where they the same charter company as Leisure International? My first ever long-haul flight to MCO was on Leisure International - pretty good charter company actually and I still have the free headphones somewhere! That was also a B767.

Also flown on BCal and Dan Air

Ah, here's our Oxford buddy. Wasn't quite the instant success he was hoping for, but fair play to him for trying I guess...

Seems his website has collapsed into an advertising placeholder.

Didn't they become Air Europa?

I have flown several of the lines mentioned when I was younger, Dan Air (which I am sure flew out of Luton), British Airtours, Caledonian, Air Europe (Who I seem to remember had nice metal tea spoons!)

How about the ones that have become Tui, so things like:
Britannia (Can't remember now who else they swallowed)

I belive they were the same company. Flew Leisure International to MCO from MAN in '93, we had a 36 hour delay on the return flight as one of thier two aircraft went tech.

Fair play to them, they put us up for two nights in a better hotel than the one we stayed in for the holiday. So in the end we got an extra days holiday and some compo from the insurance when we got home.

Never heard of them again though!
