Well the planning for Scrooge on tour '08 continues.

We were thinking of Hong Kong next winter...but lets face it..sun and sea is needed.

SO with little to no knowledge of the area, can someone point me at a nice beach hotel, of course websites can make a dump look nice, I prefer first hand knowledge.

Have just got back from bangkok.... If you have an overnght there, I can throughly recommend the millenium hilton in the centre. It's very cheap, and in my top three hiltons in the world!!! The boats will take you to thaksin bridge ferry pier for boats all over the show.

I know a few folks that go to Thailand for 'extra activities.' Honestly sex tourism is the common association with Thailand now with young folks in the USA. That and Chicken Pad Thai, spicy (why I am going ).

Well there is a show called "the one thousand places to see before you die", the wife has seen this and has now decided that SE Asia is a must do.

Although I personally do not have any experience, my friend has a house in Puhket (sp?) and he would really recommend it. Other than sun, sea and sand I think the area is quite good for golf if you're into it.

The view from the exec lounge is fantastic. It also has an outdoor terrace. I got some fantastic shots of an electrical storm whilst there.

The courtesy boats from the hotel go across the river to river city and a little bit down the river to the BTS Pier (for other boats) and the BTS skytrain ( http://www.bangkok.com/information-trav ... d/bts.html ).

I'm in Bangkok at the moment and I'm staying at a nice hotel call the Dynasty Inn Grande,on Soi Jaisaman, Sukhumvit 6 Rd, very nice clean hotel with a huge swimming pool and it's only a few mins from the BTS Skytrain, Nana station.
