Well he's certainly influential, but from a negative 'powerful' point of view I think that a few very senior bankers who screw up their debt dealing positions might effect people's lives more than Steve Jobs.

Sometimes the controversial choice sells more magazines. I'd go with Buffet or Gates myself.

Thats crazy, not even close, someone along the lines of Warren Buffett or Carl Ichan sure that I would go with, but Steve Jobs, thats just silly.

Define 'powerful.' If it's who controls the most incomes (has the most workers) it is one thing. If it's who can make more sheeple buy something or take up a trend, that's Oprah. If it's who has the most control over their business, that's probably the leader of a one-man company.

In short, it's just a dumb question and the answer is meant to flatter a potential advertiser or some such.
