The partner company in the UK is 'Tracker' they market 2 or 3 products here ..... there are a couple of other companies here but im not sure if they are seperate systems or the same marketed under another name.

Cheers

When I think of vehicle monitoring in that sense, I instantly think of Tracker (www.tracker.co.uk). Looking at their pricing structure, they are not cheap but you obviously need to factor in the cost of the car you are protecting.

You need to consider how long you are going to keep the car, as there is an annual subscription fee of around £125, or a 'lifetime' (well, while you own the car) of £350 - so break point being around 3 years.

I know most insurance companies will give a discount for having a Tracker as there are very good.

Thanks,
Richard

I choose my insurance company to ensure they DON'T insist on a Tracker. Hang on - I am paying you so that IF it is stolen YOU give me my money back. YOU pay for the tracker then as it'll save YOU money. So E-Sure it is...

Very true indeed. Does kind of depend on the car too - one of my colleagues has a Ferrari and he found that the insurance companies wanted a Tracker-esque device fitted before they would insure (and I think it did make a big difference in price to those that didn't insist.)

There is the school of thought (me included) that questions whether you want the vehicle back after it has been thrashed around ! .... unless of course its a rare car that would be difficult to replace.

The reason I am asking is that my 5 week old A4 has just gone back to Audi ! (long story, but got a full refund :))

So im now picking up an A6 this week, my current insurer - Direct line insist on a tracker because of the value..... Im quite happy with Audi standard alarm & immobiliser so I think it may be time to look elsewhere for insurance.

Cheers

I think you're right, time to change insurers - unless we are talking about a RS6 which I don't believe is in production at the moment.

Thanks,
Richard

Beware if they give you a discount it is also likely your insurance will not be valid if the Tracker is not working. How do you know if its working? They don't even tell you where it is (for your own protection) We found the saving so little that the risk a claim being repudiated was not worth it.
