Hmmm.. And yet if a Euro government bought a Boeing plane for anything, I'd hardly raise an eyebrow. You buy the best equipment for the job (and the budget). I think the reaction by those Boeing workers and Seattle congressmen is a bit inflammatory, IMHO.

Apparently this it first of 3 such contracts coming up, plus all the knock-on sales. The RAF have already agreed to take the MMRT version to replace the VC-10/Tristars.

Isn't this the deal that was originally won by Boeing a few years ago, but was declared invalid after corruption was detected - seem to recall that the woman in the government that was responsible for signing/procurement left not long after and went to work for Boeing.
