I remember my mum once years ago when we lived in England and we went shopping in the supermarket and she asked the girl at the checkout for a 'poke' [:0]

My mum had to explain to her what it was and the girl turned round and said to my mum 'here in england the proper term we call it is a carrier bag' (Snooty girl!)[:(!]
