At the risk of incurring the wrath of certain footy-hating members (bless them), I wanted to start a thread about international footy v EPL. This can be the thread for discussion about any home nation side or other international team -- after all, our members are a diaspora of VS aficionados. If a mod wants to delete this thread, just ping me by PM and we can discuss.

THE SUN SAYS (by way of GJ...):

Now, how about that Becks? We went about 75 minutes watching Theo run hot and cold. As the nursery rhyme says, when he was good he was very, very good, but when he was not, he was horrid. Well, not as horrid as Ashley 'Ring my Mobile' Cole's awful cross, but unlike Becks he did not create two scored goals and at least two other real attempts in the space of 10 minutes.

Beckham was a game changer, in a match that appeared to be content just futzing along to an average victory.

Certainly, Walcott needs to play and he's obviously gathering into a mighty storm. I actually think Walcott should start, and Beckham can now play white knight as a powerful sub.

But talk of Beckham's days being over and how he's such a crap player needs to be put back into the toychest of any numpty who espouses it.

No, Becks can't fly his a$$ all the way from LA to ride pine waiting to sub when the Galaxy needs him HERE. Meanwhile, we're playing Houston (MLS CUP CHAMPS) tomorrow without BabyJesus because of yellow card accumulation. ARG!!! Oh well..... three years running and no playoff berth following our own MLS Championship (2005.) (Of course... there is still a possibility, we won Sunday without him, even though it's a slim one.) *sigh*
