Graphics Card advice

Evening - hoping someone can suggest a PCI Express graphic card for me.

I'm looking for a silent (no fan) graphic card that will support x 2 monitors.

Non gaming use, so the spec does not need to be that high, use will just be general pc stuff.

Keen to understand how twin monitors work (this for an XP machine) so any suggestions/help welcomed.

Andrew

thanks

Most graphic cards these days come with 2 outputs often with a DVI and SVGA to which you can connect 2 monitors (You usually get a DVI to SVGA converter in the box) allowing you to dual screen ie spread your desktop across both monitors. I have been doing this for many years at work with the main problem being around compatibility of the applications, for instance when running word or excel you might find that any dialog boxes that appear might appear in say screen 1 but the word/excel document is in screen 2.

I have seen quite a few problems when running Citrix applications in dual screen mode but other than that, when programming for instance, it is a godsend.

There is a company called Sparkle that makes a line of Nvida based cards that are fanless.

Something like this?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-8400GS-Sil ... 551&sr=8-1

I don't play games on my PC at home, but drive two 20' LCD monitors via DVI so went for a 512Mb 8600GT with dual DVI which has a small fan but you can't hear it as such.

Next series up:
