Holiday Excitement!

Hello

A few of my work colleagues and I were having a long discussion on Friday about holidays and what the most exciting part is!

Lots of different views, for some people it was the excitement of getting on the plane for others it was certain aspects of the holiday i.e. sightseeing at certain places and for others it was getting on the beach/cocktails.

For me, I think i'm most excited in anticipation of a holiday. Anything from 3 weeks beforehand I start the whole "this time in 3 weeks i'll be...." and that's where I really get excited. It's the final week beforehand where it really sets in and thats the best for me.

What about you? :D

Looking at the calendar and seeing that big red circle around the date we plan to travel getting nearer and nearer to present time.
Secondly checking onto the Virgin Atlantic site under 'manage my booking' and watching the days, hours, minutes & seconds counter going down :)

On the other hand, relaxation sets in once the fasten seat belt sign goes on and we begin to taxi to the runway. At that point all the pre-worries of getting everything right is over, coz by then its too late to alter anything ii)

Various times, actually. Initial excitement when I've just booked a flight, then another boost when accommodation is done. And then, usually some weeks ahead of a trip, I'll get a rush - and tell myself it's way too soon to be wound up.

As for himself, he doesn't really do excitement in quite the same way - though I can always see him visibly relax when the bags are checked in....

This might sound a bit back to front, but I try and not think about an upcoming holiday until a week or so before, that way, it kinda' comes as more of a pleasant surprise when I know it's only a few days away.

Off to Florida on Wed (well Thursday is the actual MCO flight) but I fly down to LGW on Wed so that's technically when my holiday starts :) ) Not really thought much about it until late last week, partly because work is full on at the moment (as it has been for the last 6 months!!)

My Florida holiday will also be my first 'beach' holiday in about 6 years. All my recent trips have been city breaks, so this makes a refreshing change. I plan on doing as little as possible, other than some diving hopefully. No theme parks either as I'm staying near Clearwater in the Indian Rocks beach area :)

Ditto.

I leave the '150 day countdowns' to the wife and kids.

The first part of the holiday I look forward is when I'm sat on the plane, drink in hand knowing that the trials and tribulations of packing (I do it, else it would never fit), 'getting up' coordination and herding the tribe to the airport are all over.

I never have any time to think about holidays coming up, its only really when i step into the terminal to check in and step into the lift for up stairs that it starts to sink in, and then and only then does this enormous sense of excitement wash over me woo hoo!

cheers

The second the plane leaves the runway, it's then I know for sure I'm not in work anymore and I'm getting away somewhere sunny!

I'm looking forward to my holidays from the minute it's booked, but in a normal sort of sane way but, OMG the other half is shocking....he's excited from the minute it's booked all the way to getting on the plane anything up to 12 months later. He has countdown timers on the computer, he's checking passports for months and months in advance, he's searching for the best car deal, insurance deal etc, it never stops and the night before we fly he doesn't sleep, all out of sheer excitement, what a child :P

I get excited at the thought of looking for a holiday so you can imagine I'm uncontrolable by the time I get on the plane :D

Well, arrive, actually at our destination, as I do seem to have ended up in the wrong place a fair few times over the years. And none of them were my fault :P
