So it seems I need a Visa card for the Olympics tickets - Grrrrrr
My MBNA Amex, Amex Cards and Mastercards are not fit for purpose.
Anyone out there know which Visa card is best for Frequent Flyer, Hotel programs or cashback whoring purposes?

You can pay by cheque if you apply using the paper form or just get a pre-paid visa card. No miles etc but probbaly simpler.

Can be a Visa debit too, doesn't have to be a credit card. I haven't managed to find a decent visa for points earning. I cancelled my old Tesco Finest Platinum a while back, which in hindsight was a bad move. I currently have one which is linked to Hilton, but is operated by Barclaycard. 1 point per pound, double on Hilton spend (UK card only - MUCH better deals for the US version)

When I tried to use that card this week, I found out (like many others) that it has to be valid until August, even though they say they will take the money before then.

Luckily I have a visa debit linked to a current account. I was not impressed when I saw the strapline "proud to only be accepting Visa" - why are they proud exactly?

Just pop into your local Lloyds TSB and ask for a ticket application form. You can then be old school and send a cheque off.

Not quite. If you pay by card you will only be charged for the tickets you actually get not order. Though they do say make sure you have all the £ for your order in your account in case you manage to get them all.

Position is different if you pay by cheque / postal order though.

I also have the HH visa card. I find that they send out 0% balance transfer offers quite frequently as well.

I thought they were being charged "sometime between" May 10th and June 10th and that this was an issue - that you have to have enough funds to cover you total application over that entire period.
