Room rates are starting to come in..at long last.

This will be updated as the rates come in.

In order to get a group rate we MUST book at least 20 rooms.

All rates are plus tax and any stupid resort fee's.

Wynn....non view room $299 per night

Treasure Island $159

Paris $169 for the first 3 nights $179 for the last night

Stratosphere 11/11 $60 11/12 - 11/15 $47

Mirage $229

Also Wynn is offering a 10% discount on their shows if we purchase 10 or more seats.No room purchase is necessary to get that.

Strat looks very attractive at the moment! If I check the Wynn reservations system for one person for three nights, 14 thru 16 Nov, for what they call a Resort Room I get exactly the same rate, $299. So they don't seem to be doing us any favours. [:?]

No I have been checking around after I have gotten quotes from the hotels, we don't seem to be getting much if anything of a break.

For some reason the hotels are taking their sweet time about this whole thing.

Just Checked Paris and got $169 for Tue, Wed, Thu and $179 for Fri - 13 thru 16 Nov. So what are we getting for our 20 rooms?

Beats the hell out of me.

I've always thought that Vegas is the one place on Earth where booking group rates can actually work against you in certain situations.

Look at the typical example of a conference being held in town. Convention goers fill an awful of rooms, right?; but, your average conventioner is spending his day wandering around an exhibition, and not playing the tables. So for a strip casino, a typical convention attendee isn't necessarily a good catch.

Would the other option be to approach it through the slot club? Quite a few of us have 'elite level' (if you like) in slot clubs at the Luxor, Strat, etc. Perhaps if we asked our casino host to quote on rooms for us and 15 or so friends we're bringing over, that might get a better rate?

Do we have any sort of Itenary for the week, i.e are we travelling up to SFO on the day of travel or spending a night in town/airport.

I think Pete and Marcus are planning to go to SFO on the 17th for the last two nights, I would probably do the same but nothing fixed yet.

FHR rate for Bellagio is $251.10 + 9% tax for those nights - Lake view Deluxe with FHR benefits. Not great really, the other FHR rates are obscene.

Better goign direct to be honest. Paris rate looks reasonable.

Richard, I may be allowed to go on my own but I will not, I repeat NOT, be allowed to stay at Bellagio in her absence. [xx(]

I'm sure we can mock-up a reciept for the Stratosphere and provide a shredder for the Bellagio check-out bill....

I'm looking at flying up to S.F. on the Friday, depending (of course) on how the hotel rates look at both ends. As my flight lands me in the West Coast on the 7th, I'll have plenty of time to play early in Las Vegas (or wherever!). Plans are flexible, but probably won't book the internal flights until I know what Virgin America are up to.

What a wonderful idea, however there is the small matter of the Amex statement to consider.

I've booked US Air, but only out of habit rather than any real reason.

Knowing that you do a bit of BA Club Europe to and from work Iain - remeber that you get 60 BAEC TP's for a First flight on AA. Think it's about £115 LAX -LAS.

A piece of advise please from those who travel from LAX to LAS. If the VS007 gets into LAX at 15.00rs (if all is well) what flight time would you recommend to aim for departure to LAS. I presume you have to clear customs and imm at LAX first before transferring [:(]

Having done that trip before, I've always allowed myself about 2 hours; not so much the check in for the domestic, but just in case the immigration is a nightmare (and if you get stuck behind another international arrival, it can be).

In fact, if you give yourself enough time, a meal in the Encounter restaurant (that space-aged thing in the middle of LAX) is quite a good way of ensuring your transit buffer isn't wasted time.

Iain,

Whenever and wherever you make landfall in the good ol' US of A, you are obliged to go through the immigration procedures. That means you have to claim your hold baggage and go through the usual immigration and customs routines. There is no shortcut, sorry.
