Plans for Vegas / San Francisco

Hi All,
I've created this private & hidden forum for those who are going to be in Vegas and San Francisco so we can thrash out any plans for meals / group activities.
Iain, I see you're getting into Vegas on the 14th. Do you want to have dinner on the 15th? I would guess you'll be a bit too tired after your flight on the 14th.
For San Francisco, I think most of us will be around on Sunday 18th, so perhaps that's the best day for a group meal there? Artur - are you around S.F. that weekend?
Obviously Iain & John overlap in Vegas too - you guys are free to use this forum to arrange if you want to see / do stuff together. Dave & Jen are also in town, of course.
Although we're quite a few down on numbers from '05, there's still a possibility that the Mannions may join us; and preffier still has a booking on that VX flight... which is encouraging

Friday the 15th suits me for a dinner and certainly a meal drink in SFO should be in order. Pete were you with us in that bar on the peir with MCUTH , if so it is an excellent place to meet;)
It was all a bit of a haze so cannot remember who was there except Buns and MCBen
I will hopefully meet a few mates from the US in Vegas as well so there should be a good crowd in total.
As for being tireds on the 14th, no chance. That's what lie flat bed is for and a bar at 30000ft

I hope, for my sake, that the 15th is Thursday and not Friday...!
If you're talking about Pier 39, then I know it, but I didn't get into central S.F. in 2005 - I stayed out at the airport for the one night we were in SFO. I seem to remember we had a late flight, so I got drunk at the hotel bar

Want to hit town on the 14th too then? Whatdaya fancy? Show? Dinner? Gambling?

Drink, Steak and gambling sounds good to me:)
I do not think the bar was Pier 39, but it had shed loads of taps (over 50)to choose from. Maybe Buns remembers as he was soberish.

It's looking like I may not be in Vegas at all but will be meeting up with you all in SF for just the Sunday night and of course the party bus home!

I'm still hoping to make it for the full trip but the odds are stacked against me with some staffing problems. At present may plans are still as in the other thread so I won't repeat here.
I should know in a week or two if I can get away, still have the Party Bus on hold [y].

John,
Are you changing your flight into LAX on the 16th, or just going straight up to SFO and skipping LAS?

I'm still going to LAX on the FRI at the moment. I've got a mate who lives in Merced and it would be a real shame not to go and visit when I'm so close and the only time it all fits is on the Sat which means missing out Vegas.
So, my curent plan is arrive in LA on the Fri, drive to Merced Sat morning then meet up in SFO on the Sunday (will take car back and hook up with Iain and share a cab back to town).

Does anyone know if I'd be able to cancel the outbound portion of my (miles) ticket from LHR to LAX but keep the SFO - LHR bit and, would I get 50k miles back?
I've got another option of going BA (F) to DFW which woulds allow me to be in Vegas for the Fri night as it arrives earlier.

Unless you're Gold, there's normally a penalty. (25%, I think?), but you may be able to wangle it if you drop a PM to Juliet. She's now in Flying Club, so may be able to work something out for you.

Ta for that Pete,
I wonder if I'm trying to cram too much into too little time?
If I go and see my mate Sat then have a leisurely drive up to SFO airport on the Sunday and dump the car then I should still be able to enjoy a jolly evening out with all the gang plus the flight home on the Mon.
See you soon!

Hi guys, things are not getting any better for me, so I have decided with much regret to withdraw from this years Vegas do. [:#]
I have released my "G" back into the system although I believe there are already plenty of "G"s available. Hope you all have a ball and don't loose your shirts or blouses.

That's a pity Bazz. I hope work eases off a bit for you soon - although being busy at work is a better alternative to the antonym

It's looking like a pretty thin number of people this time around to call it a "social" anymore - but I'm sure the few of us that are going still know how to paint the town red...

Yeah, I am gutted, I have a key staff member leaving and am having difficulties finding a suitable replacement and then we are away over Christmas, the timing just sucks.

Sorry to hear you can't make it Bazz but work first[:?] I now have a spare CH access going if anyone is travelling on the 14th am from LHR
Pete, don't worry I have a couple of mates who are coming as well that will keep things lively;)

Flight out is a variable feast - I'm out on the 7th to LAX, but others are arriving mid week; the flight back (for most) is the VS20 on the 19th.

Finally worked out what I'm doing over the Sat/Sun part of my SF trip.
Saturday evening I'm visiting some old family friends and Sunday I'm off to Monster Park to watch the 49ers [^] which is a 1.15 kick off.
The game should be over before 4 (never worked out how they make 4x15 minute quarters last over 2 hours:D). This means traffic permitting I should be back in my hotel (Hilton Fishermans Wharf) by 5.30'ish.
So I'll be free anytime after that.

Those that are in Vegas on Thursday 15th, how about a meal at the Cheesecake Factory in Caesars?
And those in San Francisco on Sunday 18th, we could either repeat the experience at the Cheesecake Factory atop of Macy's on Union Square, or do something more fancy depending on preferences/budgets.
What say ye?
