Couple of points/questions from me:
1) Is there still plans for the usual trip up to Edinburgh for the Fringe festival during August? Wasn't able to make it last year due to a wedding but that certainly sounds like a winner to us.
2) I know it is difficult, but certainly more central based events sounds a good idea. I like the theme park idea, but for us if it was based at Thorpe Park as opposed to Alton Towers we would probably struggle to attend. I know a lot of members are Southern/London based but there does seem to be quite a few Birmingham and up too!

I think Edinburgh is pretty much a staple in the calendar, I am sure many V-Flyers will make the trip this summer.
Amsterdam would be fun!
Thanks,
Sarah

Oh good, that is something we are both really keen to go to this year and I know talking to Richard a while ago he mentioned it, but with it just not mentioned anywhere I thought it might not be a goer this year.

Now I know I'm going to get beaten with electrons, but...
With all the talk of socials etc. I thought I'd mention it now; do we have an idea on which weekend will be the annual trip to the Fringe? I ask as I'll need to book some time off and have to compete with the school brigade at work.
The festival itself runs 14/8-6/9.

Decker is going weekend of 28th-31st August. We're yet to book but no harm in firming up some plans.
Thanks,
Sarah

I can't see us going this year, we will be up that way at the start of the month for our Anniversary and two trips would just be an extravagance.

So you have! I take it then that weekend has been chosen as the weekend most will be attending?

Nope that was a unilateral miles burn 'cos of the Bank Holiday. As It's reward flights I can shift if need be!

In theory I'll be there if I can write a new show.. and will make sure the meet up is in the diary.

just to repeat what Mat said, we'll be in Scotland at the beginning of the month (and probably bankrupting ourselves at Gleneagles in the process). I would consider another trip up as it was such fun last year but have a family wedding on the 28th so doubt we'll see you guys.

Once a particular weekend is decided upon it might be neat to travel there and back in our own railroad car. If it is anything like what we experienced on the PCP trip to Paris the trip itself will be a V-Flyer party.

In fact from London to Edinburgh, it's arguably faster than the train.
Engineering works excepted. I'm talking City Centre to City Centre though.

We heard from our impresario, Pete, who suggests the second weekend in August; the second full weekend would be August 14-16. How does that suit everyone?

It has potential at the moment, shifts dependant...

We were maybe looking at later in August as the middle of the month is already busy for us, without me taking the football in to account, but if everyone else is going earlier we would just do our own thing.

If I can weasel some time off, it looks like I'll be flying up as I can get BMI ex-LHR for 90 instead for train for 130+ and 6 hours of hell.
EDIT: weekend off now booked. Any ideas on hotels etc?

Fringe programmes should be available from tomorrow (10th).
EDITED TO ADD
I have two spare programmes hot off the press (and I have the ink on my hands to prove it). If anyone would like one please PM your details and I'll sell your details to an unscrupulous direct marketing organisation and then put them in the post on Friday.
