At the party it was obviously something very new that SRB was only just announcing to staff. I assume that it is still being worked on and there will be some sort of launch in the near future.
It is such a good idea, that has obviously had a lot of work put into it already, I am sure we will hear more about it soon.

Since Unite is a Virgin staff initiative, there is always a chance the web site is internal only...

Virgin Unite was detailed by SRB at the summer party. It is a pan-Virgin initiative that is intended to encourage staff to 'give something back' to the community, principally their time, to do 'good things'. The launch theme (my interpretion) was - enjoy your vices but give something back in return.
cheers

The website URL is now redirecting to
http://www.virginunite.com/ but its not up yet - the old "essential maintenance" line.

That link is now working, and there's a site to look at and register on.

It's really good to see this up and (almost) running. The job ad for the person to run Unite caused a bit of a stir in the charity/fundraising press earlier this year, becasue the way the person specification was worded made people suspect a marketing gimmick. But this looks like it has the potential to be a great example of corporate social responsibility.
