Just a heads-up for anyone booked on the VS109 MAN>ATL flight over the winter season.

VS have today changed the departure time. It was originally departing MAN 10:45, arriving ATL 15:25. The new departure time is now 13:00 from MAN arriving ATL 17:45.

(the VS 110 departure time is now 19:35 from ATL, arriving MAN 08:30).

I've not had any notifications yet from VS, but I always check every Saturday as that's when VS make their flight schedule changes!

I actually fly back from ATL to LHR on the VS104 and that departure hasn't changed (so far).

I've a reward booking on the VS109 at the end of Dec connecting to a separate revenue DL ATL>FLL return flight which I've now had to change as my DL flight departure time was originally 17:45. Thankfully it's very easy to now change DL flights online yourself and it's only cost me an extra $25 to move to the next flight as ATL>FLL DL flights op around every 2 hours or so; as a bonus it's bumped up my first class fare code from an I to a D so double the Virgin points earnings now :cool:

Virgin are clearly tinkering with the MAN schedule for the winter season. The VS75/76 times for our December trip have changed.
VS75 was 11:25 -> 16:20. Changed to 10:30 -> 15:25
VS76 was 19:50 -> 09:05. Changed to 21:50 -> 11:05

The changes don't bother us as we will be in a hotel at MAN overnight the night before the outbound & the later departure on the inbound just means we get an extra hour at Islands of Adventure - so an extra Velocicoaster ride. I am guessing the schedule changes are for fleet rotation in MCO. There is no way the VS75 aircraft will be operating the return VS76 as that would mean over 6hrs on the ground. The VS76 will clearly be operated by a later arriving aircraft - which are still showing as A330-300's both ways.

They seem to be tinkering with all sorts by the looks of it then. My VS91/92 flights in November have moved too.
VS91 has move 2 hours later from 12:35 -> 18:45 to 14:35 -> 20:45
VS92 has moved an hour earlier from 18:25 -> 07:50 to 17:30 -> 06:55

Both are still showing as A330-300s

Same for us for our December VS91/92. I was really hoping for an aircraft change to the A350 - unpopular opinion, I know, but I really don’t like the UC cabin in the A300-330

Our VS155 to Vegas in October has changed times twice since we booked nearly a year ago, from15.30 to now 12.45. We do not mind so much as we are staying overnight near to Terminal 3. This is our 1st Virgin flight in several years so will see how things have changed, the clubhouse, aircraft etc. Linda

We are booked in VS109 in November and had the notification of the flight change this morning. As we are flying out on a Saturday the original flight time was 12:40 so minimal time change.

More concerning is that our original (DL) connecting flight at 19:00 has been cancelled and the next available flight is at 23:00.

Not suitable alternatives currently exist, so could end up being a very long day!

Thanks James for the heads up. I am just in process of booking the VS109 for our annual trip to Fort Myers. New time is late for onward connections which in the past has been the majority of the passengers. Seems we will be in for a long day

My VS155 flight in March has gone the other way, from 1520 to 1735, not arriving into Vegas until 2030 now. The return departs LAS at 2220 giving a 1610 arrival into LHR.

Just checked VS109 timings for February and if we wish to travel on to Fort Myers the only flight now arrives at 00.25am and Alamo close at 00.30!!! Is it still possible to have a stopover for the night in Atlanta and fly down the next morning. Fraid we are too old for very long days

I was able to do this recently on a return flight from MCO and overnight at Atlanta. It took me three attempts though. I could see the flights I wanted but the booking engine didn’t offer them which is why (I think) the first two agents couldn’t help me. I had to specify the exact flights I wanted and the third agent was able to book them. Hope this helps.

Regards,

David

I used to fly this route quite often (wish I still did) and I'd say anecdotally there was a lot of connecting passengers, me included. Makes sense really, I don't think ATL is a popular destination in itself, but it is obviously great to connect into DL's network. On that basis, the new timings for VS109 make no sense to me at all.

Thanks David for the info. Will gather all the relevant flights and call them. I think many people will be affected by the time change. I advised to a friend today and he has flights booked in December and March and both had to be changed. He has no notification from VS. His first call , I think went abroad and they couldn't help but would call back. They never did and he then spoke to South Wales and they changed both. I have used the VS109 numerous times and agree the majority of the passengers are flying on so the new time makes no sense as loadings will suffer.

I emailed Shai Weiss yesterday setting out my thoughts on the time change and the difficulty of connecting flights later in the day. I received an email this morning acknowledging it and promising contact within 72 hours. I then received a telephone call this afternoon from one of Mr Weiss's P/A's to discuss my email.
She didn't know why the times had changed but stated the usual 'operational reasons. We did have a long discussion over this and the fact that promised new flights and clubhouse at Manchester hadn't happened.
She ended by saying that all complaints and comments are taken seriously and would be passed to Mr Weiss and that they would welcome more comments going forward

Is it not the VS5/6

I was booked on VS5/6 in Feb and the time changes were awful!

Didn’t leave Miami until 2345
