I wonder if there is a glitch with the IT at the moment. I just did a dummy flydrive booking from MAN to MCO next Sept and the flights come up as VS to MCO but the car hire is Hertz from Sanford!

If you are a Costco member, ping a quote into their Car Rental website - they are often extremely competitive, especially for USA rentals. I've generally had Alamo rentals in the USA when booked via Costco, Hertz seems to be the one they use in Europe in my experience.

Virgin Holidays have switched their contract from Alamo to Hertz for bookings from 2024.

Just done a dummy booking for next February with VH and as you say it is now with Hertz. I checked what was included and I couldn't see breakdown cover. Am I missing it somewhere?

Try US Car Hire or QEEQ
Their app versions are even cheaper than their web sites

I Have a fly-drive from VH for April with Hertz and the following is in the terms and conditions for the "Hertz Go" insurance taken when I made the fly-drive booking....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EMERGENCY ROADSIDE SERVICE (ERS)
• 24/7 Emergency Roadside Service for Hertz is included with every rental. This covers mechanical defects or
breakdowns that can occur, when they occur within the approved driving area at no additional charge.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, there is no On-line check in or skip the counter available via VH .
A trip to the rental desk is required :-(
