Here are my most recent meals on VSUC
salad
main
pud
and BACW
salad
main
pud. Would have to say BA was the better quality food and wine,VS won on the cutlery. On looking at the comparison I am amazed how similar they are.

The presentation of the VS food looks woeful (slopped on the plate, which seems to become the norm these days) compared to the BA offerings, and the quantity and 'finish' on the BA food seems much better.

The most noticeable thing about the BA menu over the VS is that you get a proper fresh green salad. Something which has been sadly absent from most VS menus ex-UK for a wee while now.

I wonder if VS would gain from having things like the cold starters pre-plated at the flight kitchen, in order to improve the presentation?

Either that, or start flying with onboard chefs, or train certain SCC as galley specialists, and give them the appropriate tools to do their job, such as garnishes and things to present the plates properly.

Mike + Jag ,

I must admit that it is some time since I have flown BA long haul, and my last few experiences of UC have been at the very best "average / poor". I do not think there is any excuse when paying £3 or£ 4k for a long haul flight to be served something that you would in any other place send it back. Something really needs to be addressed by VS on this problem. When I recently flew back from Barbados, the food on board was only was to say terrible. We all had pork and only short of a chain saw would have cut same. It's just not on, and with VS having lost my recent booking in November to Shanghai to BA, due to their high price, it looks as though I may start to now look elsewehere rather than VS.

But are Virgin listening? They must know of this site. If they don`t (a problem in itself as any company would love such free feedback) and they fail to take notice of you as loyal customers, then that is probably where the real problem lies.
I can only salute people who have such brand loyalty, but it gets to the point where VS are taking advantage.

Hi All

Just done a short stop round trip to Seattle in Club World (New Outbound - Old Inbound)

Dare I say that as well as the food being a cut above VS, I felt that the service in general far exceeded my recent experiences of UC ! ... the only thing I missed was the Limo both ends although this was solved by an £18 ride in a 7 series BMW from my local car firm and a hire car in Seattle.

I have to say that Im rather pleased at this being the case as with an upcoming job change I will potentially be flying this route several times in the coming months [y].

I will post my detailed observations in a TR when I get a mo.

Cheers

Indeed.

A bit sad isn't it? BA have often been criticised for their "all bake on one plate" main courses, BUT it STILL manages to look and tast better than the Virgin "freshly plated" offering...

Had a lamb hot pot that I didn't enjoy on BA in CW (last October) and have generally avoided any pasta option in CW (since my one experience of their pasta was a bit "baked dry/solid"), but the rest of the food that I have had on BA CW has been really pretty good...

Have to also agree with someone's comments on service - have had consistently very professional (and good) crews in BA CW. Have had very inconsistent/mixed Virgin UC crews - both absolutely excellent and sadly disappointing... [?]

Have my first UC in three years coming up at the end of this month - so it will be an interesting comparison... However for the night flight, I am planning to eat in the LHR Clubhouse rather than onboards...
