I know this isn't realy travel technology but I need some help and I am sure someone here has the knowledge.

I am trying to add an icon to my website so it loads into the address bar (and favourites/bookmarks) when the page loads.

So, I created a 32x32 bitmap, which I then converted to an icon, name the icon favicon.ico and put it in the root of my website.

Nothing!
So I searched the web and found an article saying if you have problems with this to add the following html to you page
[quote]

I added this and still nothing (although it 'sometimes' works in ie but not consistently)

So what am I doing wrong?

Should it load straight away into the address bar or does it need to be added as a favourite/bookmark first?

Does it work differently for firefox that ie?

Please, anyhelp appreciated as this tiny little issue is driving me mad.

Hi Paul,

The syntax you're looking for is

And I think the icon size needs to be 16x16 for the address bar.

This is something I've thought about a few times in the past but never been sufficiently moved to ask the question - so thanks Paul for doing it for me, and thanks Pix for the answer! I've now tinkered with one of the sites I have and have a snazzy address bar icon! The rest can wait until tomorrow!
