Time to transfer Amex rewards to VS?

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if Amex rewards transfers are instant? I'm on VS207 tomorrow from HKG-LHR and want to try my luck for a G at the airport, but will mean transferring some points from Amex to cover it. I'd rather keep them in my Amex account if not successful. Means some quick transferring will need to occur at the ticketing desk if a G is available.

mine took around 15 mins last week, but I know some people have had problems recently

Mine took about 3 minutes last week.

I believe it's only 'instant' if you have previously set up the link and transferred before though. The very first transfer you do does take a few days from what I remember.

My new FC number was also showing up in my AmEx MR account as well as it looks like VS/AmEx have updated them automatically if you have done the transfer before using your old FC number.
