I'd heard this on my flight to London earlier this week. Apparently this dire situation will run beyond March 2018 and Virgin are to lease some A330-200, but I can't remember where from... I was at the bar after all
Though no fault of Virgin at all, this is an absolute sh@t show for the airline where the majority of its fleet is made up of the 787-9. One would hope there is some serious compensation being negotiated here.
If I'd never flown Virgin, had booked a ticket and got on board a leased aircraft or Delta metal I certainly wouldn't book again. People pay for the unique experience of flying VS and that includes the metal they fly on.
Does anyone know exactly how many 787's are out of action currently?
