As regular readers will no doubt be (interminably) aware, me and the present Mrs Treelo are off to Boston next Spring. Question: if the assigned aircraft is a 343 or 346, is the upgrade to PE worthwhile[?] I really appreciate the upstairs PE experience in a 744 but have never tried PE downstairs (as it obviously would be in a 343/346[ii])

Any thoughts peeps?

I'd say it was definitely worth it on both aircraft. Now I know many people say it isn't but I think it most certainly is.
If you're on the -600 and you're in a seat which has an ife box where your legs used to be and have now turned into bruised, purple lumps, you'll defnitely be wishing you were sat in 20A.
Also, I find that bit of extra room for sleeping comes in handy.
If you wanted, you could just do PE on the return for the overnight flight?

:)

Cheers,

So that would be 20A where you can't stretch your legs under the seat because of the IFE box ;)

I always try to fly PE (presuming UC can't be had), the -300 and -600's are ok, but try for row 18 for the bulkhead [y]

Which seats on the 600 have the ife box? I have booked three seats in the middle of row 19 - should I change them?

It's better but nto being upstairs and most liley havign the new seat makes things not what they used to be.

As for the location of ther IFE box is this information anywhere? It would be veru useful to add too the seat map.

Sorry, I didn't realise there was an ife box there, lets try 20e - that's the last PE seat I sat in - no ife box there[:I]

Have now booked the seats for this trip. Was hoping for a 744 but currently showing as a 343. Have been allocated seats 19H and K; what's the advice of the panel, good, OK, c%*p[?] Do I keep them or try for a change to, say 20H and K.

All advice welcome:)[y]

19 and 20 are pretty much the same! 18 is the best and 21 the worst. Personally I always try for 18A/K on a Airbus (70A/K on the 744). You can only get 18 at check-in though

Thanks Kryten - I'll stay with 19H and K, unless I get lucky and score row 18 at check-in[8D]

Another question please. VS004's seat config on the VS site is shown as 2-4-2 in economy which to my mind makes it a 343. However, 'which aircraft' on this site shows previous VS004 as 100% 744 LHR suite. Does this mean that (some) future VS004 flights will be 343?

Hi, Treelo. According to v-flyers seating map here LHR 747-400s are 2-4-2 config in Y in rows 61 to 65, 3-4-3 for the rest of the Y cabin.

Hi David. Thanks - I obviously did not express myself clearly. I realise that the 744 goes to a 2-4-2 config as it tapers towards the blunt end, but row 44 on the VS site, is showing as 2-4-2 configuration.[?][ii]

Well, if it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck..... It's a 343! [:w]

Best wishes

Or 346 which is also 2-4-2 but more rows ;)

I did think that VS3/4 were on a 744 though
