Hi,

I have just returned from a CE ( £150) rtn to MUC.

On my way back the flight ( due to dep 1320 arr LHR at 1410) was delayed 75 min ( aircraft swap at LHR) so left at 1445 and arrived at 1530 I had a 1600 flight to EDI.

NO lounge access at MUC for CLub Europe pax at MUC ( only Gold/Silcer Exec pax at the DL CRC). Fortunately I had a Prioity pass which was used.

After arriving at LHR was escortyed by BA gorund staff through security and to the gate ( two other pax also) .
On arrival at EDI- no bag, Luggage office said delayed at LHR but will be delivered at home tonight.

2215- no luggage yet- will be tomorrow now.

ON Sat LHR was a madhouse- fortunately was in CE ( no fast bag drop but mentioned it ot an agent and was promptl;y seen to.

Nice Terraces lounge at T1 esp the mezzanine area nice and quiet.

Very good service on obard ( on the outbound I was mentioned by name by the CSD if I wanted breakfast- a nice touch).

Overall very good service for the price ( i'll bet some people paid more for Y than I did for CE ( seats beside me were free both ways)

Luggage was amongst first off at MUC ( even with a bmi gold tag on !! :D

767 outbound
A320 inbound.

Regards

TBS

FWIW, BA are the only airline from all the charter & scheduled flights I've taken to have lost my luggage for more than 1hr.

I make the 1hr distinction becuase (on my last US trip), returning SMF>SLC>JFK, DL managed to route 1 of 2 bags via ATL. To be fair, I'd checked in 30mins before departure, it was a check-through, and the bag was delivered just over an hour after my arrival :)

BA managed to lose both my bags for 2 days between SFO & LHR *sigh*

Cheers

Michael

What did the CSD say "Mr TBS would you like breakfast?" ;)

PanAm lost ours for 24 hours on a LHR-MIA flight but that was after we had to divert to JFK cos the 742 lost an engine [V]

The best one I had was with American from ORD to MCO.
They put us on an earlier flight, but did not put our luggage on it, so had to wait 3 hours at MCO for the flight we would have caught to get our luggage!

Maybe its a oneworld alliance sort of thing...:D

Only time I remember my luggage going astray was when I was 11. My father worked at British Airways, and we were on staff discount tickets coming back from Miami to LHR. The flight was full, so we got bumped off the aircraft and had to sleep at the airport until the next day. Meanwhile, our luggage went up to New York before going to London and arrived 2 days after us. In the 26 years dad worked for BA, that was the only time he used staff discount to take us on a family holiday, and after that he vowed never to do it again...

When using the BA connection from LHR-MAN (only due to timings since BMI meant a longer wait) we regularly arrived home luggage-less, no big issue though since BA always sent the bags next morning via minibus, and saved us hauling them to the car!:)

Last January we went with friends VS to LAX and one of our friends bags never made it via BA to LHR (how does that happen when they are all checked in together??), we waited 3 days for the bag to turn up and were also told that due to security reasons, bags that were left behind weren't automatically forwarded anymore unless you called the carrier directly!

I ended up phoning VS FC since we were getting nowhere with LAX staff and they were great and made calls for us to reunite us with the luggage and as far as I remember VS also paid the (whatever amount it was) amount to allow purchase of toiletries etc

I always look on delayed luggage on the return trip as a bonus, as long as it does eventually find us.

After 2 or three weeks shopping at the Florida Mall we always have extra bags, + 4 kids can be a bit of a squeeze on the return car journey.

I think losing your luggage is one of the most traumatic experiences you can have, short of physical violence and bereavment of course.

There is not much worse that waiting by an empty carousel when all other pax have claimed their bags and left the hall, particularly at the start of a vacation, it really is the pits! [:(]

Flew into MAN a couple of years ago after a holiday in LAX. We were paged as soon as we arrived at the carousel & told 2 of our bags were not on the connecting flight.

They were delivered to our home the following day.

Had we been delayed at MAn & not known where our bags actually where then yes I agree this would have been a different matter.

Did help with the overladen car though.

My luggage on a flight home on VS from SFO-LHR delayed my luggage by a day; me and my colleague checked in 4 bags between us at SEA, but they said they didn't make the connection, yet one turned up on the conveyor belt....

That was the point that I found out that travel insurance only covers delayed luggage on the outbound.

BA have replaced two of my cases due to their poor handling between London and AGPGIB.

And as for CO, I have vowed never to fly them again after the treatment I got from them last summer. Being Denied Boarding is one thing (fortunately AmEx offers some nice insurance to cover this) but being rude and trying to rip passengers off is another with absolute token compensation - you can only picture the scene when they tried it on with me. The wallet of CO was forced open after some negotation and demonstration of ticket fares and routing by myself. Anyway, our luggage was lost somewhere in the EWR luggage system, so again more help/cover from AmEx to rectify the situation. Best thing about it though was I got to choose the hotel with my very generous cover from AmEx - so I chose somewhere where I could earn VS miles and SPG points :)

Thanks,
Richard

Richard,

I had that with CO when we flew back from Newark on a 747 sitting in the main door exit seats, the seal was leaking all the route home (nice high pitched whine) they gave us a whole £300 in CO vouchers for that trip!
