You can now buy BA Exec Club miles:

http://www.businesstraveller.com/defaul ... SID=425435

1 mile will cost you 1.6p with a £15 transaction fee.

Good thing or a bad thing [?] I'm not entirly sure!!!

Mitcha

Thanks for the heads up.

might prove useful if Mrs Buns & I decide to "cash in" our BA earnings as we can never seem to get beyond the basic level of memebership.

I've just logged into my account and had a look.

min purchase = 1000 miles which will cost £31.00
max purchase = 15000 miles which will cost £255.00

You can only purchase a max of 15,000 in a 12 month period. I guess it's cheaper than actually setting foot onto a BA flight to earn those miles.

A return web fare MAN-LHR only earns you 250 miles and costs ~£65

I believe my BA membership (from the one flight I've ever taken with them) expires this month - aw, shucks :D

Cheers

I have to fly regulary on BA to BRU and CDG from BHX (BMI far too expensive) but unlike VS Q class seats don't earn tier points, so the fact that I fly with them twice a month, I am still Blue basic with no tier points :-(

I think being able to buy a limited number of miles is a good idea.

It is very frustrating to be only a few K short of a reward.

How do BA miles equate to VS - how many do you need for an east coast transatlantic return compared to the 40K needed for VS?

The Exec Club web site is clear as mud but I think you need 50,000 miles for North America for Economy.

You need 100,000 miles for a LHR-JFK return in Club or 150,000 miles in first.
