Hotels in Iceland are fairly expensive, in comparison to the plethora of low cost airlines who now fly there.

I stayed at the Centrum Hotel which was very nice, but haven't been back as rated are fairly high.

I avoided The Blue Lagoon, instead going to The Secret Lagoon which is much much smaller, and the trip included visits to geysers and the Atlantic tectonic fault line which was amazing.

Hopefully a lovely diner called Launderette is still open, lovely place for brunch!

We stayed at the Skuggi Hotel. The room was small but perfectly adequate for us. It is very centrally located with an underground car park. The next street had loads of restaurants with different cuisines as well as loads of shops.

We went to the Blue Lagoon and also did the Golden Circle. We drove there and didn't use organised tours which seemed to be time-limited for each stop.

We were there at the wrong time of year for the Northern Lights.
