We decided to use OLCI, since there is no VS lounge at LAS, and we still hadnt won Megabucks, so needed to spend optimum time in casino before departure.

Tried checking in the night before but kept getting message saying something like not available at this time so tried again early the next morning and Bobs your uncle it worked fine.

Still didnt win Megabucks before we left but did manage to get our room comped and since we had a lovely suite that was a bonus.[:D][:D]

Left for the airport about an hour and a half before scheduled departure and arrived within about 15 minutes, was surprised to see quite a long line for economy still? I felt like wed only just made it and of course we zoomed past everyone and left a long line still waiting.[?]

Anyway, swiftly though security and quickly decided there wasnt much shopping to be done at LAS, so headed to the lounge. Quite a nice layout and very attentive staff, obviously not the CH but it was fairly quiet and relaxing, and a cappuccino out of the coffee machine with a brandy in it was very nice too [y]

Were told that boarding wasnt due to start until at least 4:15, since we were supposed to depart at 4:05 this meant a delay which was caused by the flight having been through some severe turbulence on the trip over (as discussed here Link) and it was being carefully checked over before boarding could start.

Once boarding was called we left the lounge and got on straight away, we had booked seats 6a & k, so we got all our bits and bobs out of our carry-on and stowed them in a wardrobe at the front of PE.

Since we had got on right at the start we waited for ages for everyone to get onboard, I had even changed into my sleep suit before the seatbelt sign was on.

The captain then told us the flight time would be 9hours 50 minutes but we were to have another slight delay before take-off as they were off-loading cargo so we could take more fuel since we would be flying further south to avoid the turbulence they had encountered on the way over.

I think we finally got off the ground about 5:30, but I had bobbed off again [|)][|)]so Im not 100% sure.

I felt a bit squished in the seat right at the front, maybe they are slightly narrower or maybe Id put on a few pounds on holiday? Who knows, maybe it was just an illusion because we were way up front. My preference would still be an LHR 747-400 and have seats 18 d & g.

We both had soup and chicken for dinner, I watched The Weatherman and then settled down with my ipod to try and get some sleep. I had saved a couple of the Ricky Gervais podcasts to listen to on the way home, only because hubby had said I looked demented lying by the pool laughing hysterically.[:o)] Anyway I was no better on the flight and thought I should maybe stop listening in case I disturbed people sleeping around me. I fell asleep very quickly and slept for a good 4 + hours. I did wake up to some fairly hefty turbulence at one point but obviously nowhere near as bad as previously mentioned, though talking to one of the crew later she said it had stopped her from sleeping.

Had salmon frittata, with sausage, bacon and mushroom ragout for breakfast, which was really nice and before long we were starting our descent into LGW. Its the first time we have flown into LGW and we had to circle a while before landing, it was a lovely bright day and you could see the coastline really clearly.

We landed at around 11:30 and we were through customs and getting in our limo home by 12:00. We had decided that rather hang around LGW waiting for a connecting flight we would just get the car to pick us up there and we were on our way. It didnt cost us that much more and it was just short of 4 hours door to door.

Had a fabulous time, met up with Jetwet1 for lunch in LAS, missed ChuckC again (really sorry ChuckC, my friend had arranged a get-together at her house on the day we were planning to stop by hence I didnt PM you to arrange anything)I know I keep promising...but next time [:#]

Now to plan the next one.[:)]

I have always thought that when I have looked at them[:?][:?]

Glad to hear that the flight home was not as eventful as the aircraft's outbound transatlantic crossing.

Sorry we delayed your flight home shazam.[:D]

The trip out was eventful for and hour or so and I'm glad they checked the plane over before letting it back in the air again.

We also flew a lot further south on the way home aswell, I'll get around to doing my trip reports sometime today.

Shaz, Any chance you can post details of the Ricky Gervais podcasts you refer to.

I do like reading these TRs we now have the outbound and return flights covered for the flight mentioned in the papers recently. Who needs the press?
