I have to agree with that, for the vast majority of the shows, sitting further back you get to take in a lot more of the show, with the Cirque shows you really need to avoid the front rows as you miss so much.
A quick update.
It took me until the afternoon of our second day to pluck up courage for the blackjack tables - and I won! The dealers were very helpful, and it didn't take long to pick up the basics plus more. I won over $700 in 2 sessions on the $10 tables (couldn't find a $5). I also came out quite well (+$180) on "American Idol" slots, which I understand go by the name of "community games". Some good bonus rounds and I played 2 "games" at once costing 80c a time.
I did so well getting comp drinks I had no need of the two vouchers for a complimentary well drinks or cocktail at the Aria.
I thought Aria and the whole area around City Centre was great, far exceeded my expectations. The pools there are lovely, and we ate in Julian Serrano, Sage and Todd English's P.U.B. We also had lunch at the Sugar factory which was OK - food good but service a bit off and tables far too close together.
The entrance to the Cosmopolitan Casino from the second floor level really is drop dead gorgeous, although I'm pleased we stayed at the Aria rather than there.
As the Aria really is in the centre of the strip it is quite easy to walk half the length of the strip one day and the other half the next. I really didn't feel that the distances were that big, TBH, despite a lot of the whingeing on TA.
