OK, geeks and geekesses, especially those who are proficient in the Apple orchard.
Many moons ago, in January 2009 to be exact, I purchased a MacBook en route to Japan at a time when the euro was on parity with the pound and there was a sale in Dixons in LHR - and a real bargain it was too. In the intervening years I acquired an iPhone 4 upgraded to an iPhone 6 and an iPad2 upgraded to an iPad Air two years ago. Earlier this year my Macbook, after seven years of faultless service but beginning to slow down, was consigned to the space under my bed where it usually goes when it doesn't travel with me and was replaced (completely unplanned) by a MacBook Air). I had gone into the Apple store in Chicago to buy an Apple Watch!!
OK, so fine so far. Anything I wanted migrated was migrated with one exception - and that is my main email account. When I got and upgraded both my iPhones and my iPads it migrated no problem. However when I went to add the email account and added in the details, it comes up with this account already exists and it won't add. The only email it recognises is a Gmail one set up for a particular purpose and is to all intents and purposes, is defunct.
Can anyone advise me what to do. My ISP is eircom.net and basically they want us to use their webmail which is crap, but I have never had any problem with it on my devices until now. I can still get email on my iPhone (and iPad if I choose to use it) but I also want to get it on the MacBook Air, if possible.
Over to you, with humble thanks to whoever (and there may be several whoevers). Your reward will be a multiplicity of TRs which I will be taking in the future on a variety of airlines.
