Quick post:

Is there any news r.e. BA improving WTP to match VS PE? I'm flying both in Jan, I'm aware that there would not be time to fit a new service but just wondered as the BA service appears to have been static for some years without innovation to match competitors.

Given the increased number of PE seats on the LHR 744's, if BA could improve the WT+ onboard service to match VS (with proper cutlery, china, etc) I think they'd have a very good product capable of seriously competing with VS.

Thanks,
Sarah

But as it is, it doesn't.

All a matter of opinion of course ;) .... I have to say from my own experiences .... WT+ does rival PE in many ways .... for me the major part of a premium economy product is the comfort and WT+ in IMHO is equal on that score. As for the rest, whilst PE has been changed its still essentially a Y meal in a china pot (Not that I find that a problem)..... for me its not so much what its served in its how its served whoever you fly with..... id much rather have a pleasent crew and eat with plastic, than eat with metal and have bad service.

Just my 2c worth ;)

Yep. And BA advertise in-seat power for WT+ because they do, unlike a certain airline that advertises it but doesn't actually have it for a number of planes.... [:w]

Exactly. For the business traveller (on say East Coast routes) who's employer will only cough up for PE, I'd think that BA have a very good offering. I like the upgraded service on VS, but trading that for onboard laptop power and less bodies in the cabin doesnt seem such a bad deal.

Thanks,
Sarah

Interesting to read your comments!

I'm looking forward to flying in both WTP and PE to be honest as only ever flown cattle class and generally on charter airlines so will be a whole new world. My missus on the other hand flies around the world in Club world for her business so will be a step down for her! At 23 she's already a BA executive club gold member (I think) so she gets access to the lounge and I don't! fun fun fun

Gold and Silver BAEC members get to take a guest in to the lounge with them, so you'll have no worries when you travel with her :D

Having flown in both the thing that sold me on PE was the cabin upstairs on the 744, without that both airlines offer pretty much the same product, yes you get sparkling wine with VS, but really it's all about the seat and legroom.

Actually thinking back on my first PE flight I was very underwhelmed by it, the VS marketing had of course gone overboard and the product could in no way support what was being promised.

In this aspect BA at least tells it like it is, you are getting more legroom end of story...oh and you get to join Exec club after you fly.

I am sure there are plans for a refresh of the WT+ cabin but not until NCW is finished, maybe it will be fitted with the new F cabin.
