Hi all,

Having saved our miles for eighteen months (plus one companion voucher!) Mrs nibbs and I are off to JNB, returning from CPT in First (back into T5 first week open).

Having fallen in love with UC from two rewards we've taken before, our attention turns to what the First experience may hold. Now, to set the scene, although in our early / mid 30's, we are like kids in a toy shop when we turn left instead of right!

So, will we feel a little out of place in amongst those who have paid serious money (not that I'll be losing any sleep over that!). Also, how does F measure up to VS UC (or vice versa).

Finally, any advice on best seats etc.

Thanks very much in advance.

Cheers,

nibbs

I have not travelled Upper - yet - however my mother and I have travelled First. In fact I used my BA airmiles and a companion voucher to fly to Dubai First and back Club. Now I had travelled Club a couple of times and liked it however I was treating my mother. To set the scene you had me (30 something) and my mother (50 something) and we were the same - like kids when we turned left!

I have to say the Concorde lounge was great - the Club/Terrace lounges are not brilliant but suffice, however the Concorde lounge was definately a big step up IMHO

Once on board we were treated like royalty - the cabin crew did not differentiate us from 'big fee' paying customers and I am sure it said we were miles customers. The other customers did not really give us a second glance - even when mum refused to sleep because she wanted to saviour the whole trip!

The seats in the middle of the aircrafy were great for 2 travelling together - the ones at the window seemed more for individuals.

Just enjoy - the crew will certainly look after you.

The cabin crew will not know you are on miles tickets you just show on the manifest as fare paying PAX.

You will be on a 747 we mostly go for 4EF/5EF these are a pair side by side in the middle of the cabin.1AK are also ok for a couple right in the nose, not my favorites as you are isolated I like to see whats going on in the cabin.
