Either that or they have to get into one of the other alliances, or seriously ramp up their offerings and hope they can make it as a niche carrier.

To me Virgin's answer is to merge all the carriers under the same flag - this wave of consolidation should have lowered some of the challenges to doing that.

Wonder what a merged BA/QANTAS would be called ... British Queensland ... territories might not go down to well in Australia [:?]
