Hi all,

Just a quick question on behalf of my old man.

He has a load of BA miles to use up. If he doesn't use them, he will lose them as they will come to the 36month expire date.

I think his first option is simple, to take a cheap flight soon and therefore reset the date on his miles another 36months. Can someone confirm this for me please?

The other option is - He want to fly my Mother out to Dubai from the UK using his miles. Is that possible also? Or would he have to be flying with her on the same flight?

Many thanks if anyone can help out here,

AC

He could also buy some miles, to reset the counter. Any activity on the account should reset it.

Thanks locutus, had an idea that was the case on the first problem.

It's just the other problem of if my 'old dear' can jump on a flight on my 'old man's' airmiles.

Hope someone out there can help.

Do a car rental, easy and cheap way to keep them active.

Yes, if he has a standard singke BAEC account then he can redeem the miles on a ticket for someone else, he doesnt have to travel with them.

Spending miles from the account does count as 'activity' to keep the miles valid for another 36 months, though I'd definitely look at purchasing some additional BA miles to bump up the account activity if your Mother isnt set on travelling as its a reasonably cheap and easy way of keeping the miles.

Thanks,
