rumours.............

there are far too many "rumours" on this board. I mean, virgin cc to strike, virgin losing money on the oz route and are pulling it, aa to start a jfk - ncl route.
personally i love rumours ( gossip )
could we please have a dedicated "rumour" thread so we all know where we stand.
oh and by the way i am told that anthony from big brother is actually { redacted on legal advice}

Providing people make it clear that a thread is a rumour and substantiate it with a verifyable source, there is no reason why this is necessary.

The whole point of the threads/topics way of working (within forums) is that conversation can remain relevant to the original topic. If all rumours were amalgamated into one thread, the conversation would be impossible to follow for each initial "piece of information".

Besides, 90% of this site is rumour, gossip & opinion

(Oh - by the way, even AA think they're starting the NCL route, so I'd say that's more than just a rumour )

no, i think its important that when posts are begun with " i've heard" or "there's a whisper" or "apparently" they should be put under a specific topic (?) in much the same way as say for example a post about 'flying club' or 'trip report' is put into its own thread. so we all might know where we stand.
if you substantiate the source with a verifiable source as you suggest is it still a rumour? so maybe there should be 'substantiated' and 'unsubstantiated'
The other advantaged would be for people like me ( pprune will not be a defence to libel) who love this sort of stuff to go to one point of delivery!!

OK, so you're talking about a rumours section, not a "thread"? While I'm definitely on the side of the fence that doesn't like wild accusations (especially unsubstantiated ones!), I do feel that most of them fit into the (existing) relevant category on the site.

I'll move this to the Website forum, as it's about changing the way the forums are organised, so the conversation on this thread can continue there...
