I am not really sure if you guys are interested in my recent short haul from Dub/Man but here goes anyway. Flew out last Saturday to Manchester with Aer lingus ( or Aerfungus as they are now known over here) . As you are all aware our national airline is not a low cost carrier and all the frills are gone. However compared with 'BlindAir' they are still miles ahead. Dublin airport was its usual chaos but once boarding started the crew were very friendly , the plane was spotless. After a quick take off the FAS came along offering the usual delights of coffee / tea and drinks. I really dont know why they bother as by the time you get to put it to your mouth the captain announces he has started decent. We arrived 10 mins ahead or schedule and I was out of the airport and in a taxi within 15mins. Overall for short haul they are still very good -in fact amazing towards Ryanair but that would not be hard. But what about this ! Dublin airport had security tight as always but I was allowed bring by usual wheely bag with my toilet bag / aftershave / bottle of water etc - Security in Dublin was quick and very good - Coming back I had to do my impression of the 'full monty' with no bags - seems extreme but I suppose in an extreme condition.
