Here is a combined TR for our little 72hr jaunt back to the UK for my sisters wedding. Flying with Malaysia Airlines in Business Class. I have tried to keep it brief and split it into the four sectors.

Checked in quickly and efficiently and changed pre booked seat assignment for second sector and off to the lounge. We were the only ones in the lounge for about 40 minutes so enjoyed the seclusion. Turns out there were only 9 C class pax on the flight. We were called to board after the economy pax were loaded and ushered upto 6A&C the front row on the upper deck of 747-400. Good seats and could get out from the window seat but had to step over other seat when in sleep position. Fruit juices offered but asked for champagne which was quickly brought out. Seats are lie flat but not flat bed. However I found them perfectly comfortable. We were given a unisex amenity kit of LOccitane stuff including lip balm, moisturizer, brush, earplugs, socks, eyeshades, toothbrush, mouthwash and breath freshner strips. After take off dinner served starting with their signature satay dish very nice other half even had seconds. Meal generally was very good with water and champagne constantly being refilled. Managed a good 4 hours sleep. IFE was on demand but unfortunately there was nothing I wanted to watch. Crew were very courteous and helpful at all times even addressing us by name.

After a shower and 5 odd hours in the lounge at KUL we were more than happy to be moving again. The one fault with the lounge at KUL are the constant (imo) announcements for late pax etc. Which meant couldnt doze off or listen to ipod. Boarding was a general melee at the gate with the exception that first and business class boarded through a separate jetway. Up stairs again this time in 9 A&C by the emergency exit. Very good seats as unrestricted access from window seat. Again pre departure drinks offered and graciously accepted champagne again. Another amenity kit handed out exactly the same as previous one. Lunch, starting with the satay, and a light repast were served, with snacks available in between if required. Food was very good and even the mid flight snack noodle broth was served in a china bowl with chopsticks. Even though I had a couple of hours sleep this flight seemed to drag as I was trawling the IFE for things to watch. Dont get me wrong there wasnt a lack of it but I had either seen or didnt want to see what was on offer. Crew were on the ball, courteous and efficient and nothing too much trouble and constantly smiling.

We arrived at LHR and found the check in desk and had to queue two people in front! Unable to change seat assignments. Proceeded to lounge which was relatively full which detracted from the ambience otherwise very nice. Again we were called board after the economy pax were all boarded. Up stairs to 7H&K these seats are OK but it is really difficult to get out from the window seat without hassling the person in the aisle seat. Fine if you know the person sat next to you luckily I did. IFE had changed as the month clicked by and was presented with too much choice very difficult to please. Another amenity kit handed out. Drinks and dinner were served, including the satay. Shortly afterwards I fell asleep jetlag and sleep deprivation following the wedding celebrations and woke up some 8 hours later feeling refreshed. Lunch served which I devoured as had missed all the snacks while was asleep. Whilst I was awake the crew were made every effort to accommodate and always with a smile.

Interlude as we had a 7 hour layover we decided to pop into KL no queue at immigration straight down onto train and into KL and within 55 minutes of landing we were at the Petronas Towers. Also went up the KL Tower before heading back to airport and lounge for a shower. We werent really appropriately dressed for 31deg heat and humidity but it was better than sitting around airport.

This was a 777 and we were in 4J&K. The seats are the same as on 747 but with far more room between rows so very easy to get out of window seat without disturbing the aisle seat. Service was upto the previous flights with yet another amenity kit (could open a shop!). Dinner and a continental breakfast served on this flight. Crew were very friendly and attentive as usual.

All the flights were on time, within 5 minutes, or early and the service was superb. As a rating I would to give Malaysia Airlines a very respectable 9.8/10 with 0.2 deducted for the announcements in lounge at KUL.
As I write this I am eating my lunch at work and am not quite sure where I am or what day or time it is, but it was worth it to just to make my sister speechless, albeit for 30 seconds, when we turned up unannounced.
