Arrived at BDA around 10.15am for a 12.20 departure. Whilst queuing to check in I noticed a big flashing 'delay' next to the B61732 on the departures screen. As I was checking in I asked the agent about this and she told me she didn't know anything about it![?] Once I had dropped my luggage off and gone through US immigration I was through to the departures area by 11am.

I found a seat and started to read the local rag. Outside it was wet and stormy with the odd splash of lightning. During the hurricane season (which starts in June apparently) it can be touch and go as to whether you actually get off the island. It wasn't looking too hopeful by midday when every aircraft that arrived wasn't the Jetblue one. I was booked on to the VS10 at JFK so I knew I could afford some delay. Just after midday an announcement was made, saying that my flight would be arriving at 12.45. To my surprise it duly arrived at said time which was a relief. The weather had started to clear so things were looking up[y]

Boarding commenced at 1pm, with families and those requiring help going first. The rest of us pax were then boarded by sequence number. I made my way to seat 22D which I had pre-booked on-line. This is a great facility and one of the reasons why I like to fly JetBlue. My seat gave me 33 inches of leg room which is ample when you are only 5 ft 2[;)]

The aircraft was an Embraer E190 with a 2-2 configuration and with 25 rows. The flight looked to be 50% full and the seat next to me was empty[:D] Push back was at 1.35pm and we were in the air by 1.45pm, with a flying time of 1 hour and 45 minutes.

I normally find it a good idea to stay in my seat when the aircraft is climbing especially [xx if the seat belt signs are on [;)], but one pax obviously couldn't wait and had to use the toilet then and there, struggling to stay upright as we bumped along [xx(]. Why does this kind of thing only seems to happen on US flights. I did hear the cabin crew member say something about the seat belt sign to this person though.

Once the seat belt sign was off I pushed up my arm rest and stretched my legs out to the next seat. JetBlue entertainment is very good with seat back TVs. You have a choice of live radio and live TV programming, though when flying out of BDA, the TV is not available for the first hour due to no satellite coverage.

CC took drink orders (no trolley) and I had 2 cranberry juices. A basket was then offered with various complimentary snacks, nuts, crisps, cookies etc and I opted for some cashew nuts. The two CC on this flight were brilliant, not only for the service they provided but their attitude towards the pax. They didn't appear to be going through the motions like some other carriers, AA and CO and nothing appeared to faze them.

We landed at 2.35pm and were then bussed to the carousel to pick up our bags. This is where the experience falters a bit as the baggage hall is small and crowded, but I didn't have long to wait until my case came through.

I would seriously consider using JetBlue for any future flights within the US, however, I hear there is a new kid on the block........Virgin America[;)]
