Why two trip reports in one posting...well honestly not much to tell..I slept for 4 hours in both directions [y]..not bad for 4 1/2 hour flights.

So a short version of a trip report is needed.

Spirit is a ULCC..or so they claim, we were looking for flight to FLL in order to join up with the Caribbean Princess for our yearly 'avoid the hurricane cruise'

The thought of spend 5 hours sitting in coach in unnerving to say the least, throw in a quick check of 1 st class ticket prices and things were looking glum [:#], even US were not playing ball, refusing to confirm upgrades, so off I went in a very Scrooge like huff.

I then happened upon a post on another site referring to Spirit and the fact that even though they are a ULCC they do still offer a first class seat.

A quick check of ticket prices found them to be some $800 per person cheaper [y] ok so yes you do have to pay an extra $5 each way per back..and yes you do have to pay for booze, but when paying for 4 people that $800 add's up very quickly.

Anyways..check in at LAS was smooth, though no dedicated first class line, still about 5 agents plus a large spread of kiosks.

The flight was delayed approx 30 mins [n], but no big deal as we were on a red eye so getting into FLL at 7 am rather than 6.30am wasn't a killer.

No priority boarding [:0], in fact we were the last to be allowed on, seething at the thought of all the overhead bin space being taken MrS Scrooge let rip on the gate agent..thankfully there was plenty of space.

Nice comfy chair in what they now call the big front seat [:$] was actually very nice, the plane was spotless, unlike many US carriers. hence the sleep and my inability to comment further.

The flight back, well this is where Spirit really dropped the ball.

FLL is their home airport, lots of flights, lots of pax and lots of windows open to help people...well no..3 windows open and maybe 5 kiosks working...this of course just leads to a complete cluster f**k.

After waiting for 1 1/2 hours to check in, some finally figured out that everyone that had an 8pm flight was about to miss them, so we were dragged out of line and moved to the front for check in.

A very nice man who we shall call Bob did a very good job of getting us checked in quickly, then of to face TSA.

Pretty much the same deal again, though this time we were pre-boarded [y], wheels up, seat back, wake up 20 mins from Vegas.

So the only negative I can find is the joke of a check in area that Spirit has at it's hub in FLL, other than that a great airline with fantastic prices.
