Bad weather in the UK had delayed all flights (VS flight was also delayed, I noticed)
Medical emergency onboard. A group of paramedics then arrived with a trolley and equipment, but left with nobody on it - had the person died or simply managed to walk off the flight????
Was less than happy with this - I know these things happen, but our outbound flight had also been delayed, and I had no spare time between getting home and going back to work. Sounds selfish, I know, but these things do matter. Boarding finally underway and flight left 2 hours later than planned.
Occurred to me that the safety announcement was quite outdated - there was no mention of the brace position, should it have beenn necessary.
Bottled water handed out as soon as cabin crew started to move round cabin - nice, but there wasn't anywhere to store it - this was swiftly followed by handing out the dvd players (but no headphones until 15 mins later) - which further complicated the where to put it decision. I was relieved to see different choices of viewing to the US bound flight, but still struggled to find something I wanted to watch and nothing I wanted to listen to. I was amused to see one of the films listed as being 'The King and I' - the 1956 version!
From where we were sitting (bulkhead seats on a 767), we got a bird eye view of what the staff were up to, and I have to say, it all seemed very disorganised. There was one guy who was clearly new - he was very keen, but a bit confused as to what he should be doing at any particular time. Come to think of it though, that could be said for most of the crew.... I watched them loading drinks trolleys - and at one point, saw a female hand reach over, open the drawer with snacks in, and take a nut! Trolleys were often placed right by the exit doors, as were some trays - is this kosher, as it seemed to me to be a bit of a safety risk????
Drinks finally came (as with outbound, these were about an hour into the flight), followed by dinner. We both had a t-bone veal steak (hadn't know they existed), a salad and some kind of coffee dessert. All pretty decent and nicely presented...
Managed to get about 3 hours sleep - seats were surprisingly comfy, but I credit the amount of sleep I got with the fact that I was exhausted from the lack of sleep from the previous 2 nights (people in the apartment upstairs to us very so noisy - they were constantly running baths, showers, flushing loos, using the jacuzzi - all in the small wee hours. Rob suspected some kind of orgy, while I was convinced all the water running meant they were trying to dispose of a body and cleaning up blood. What can I say - men are from Mars.....
Breakfast arrived - we again both chose the same - fresh fruit plate (melon, strawberries, mango, grapes and pineapple), yogurt and choice of muffin or croissant). Again, all very well presented....
Not sure when or if we'll use them again. Rob used to fly to the US a fair bit for work and sometimes got upgraded to 1st (BA, he didn't ever fly VS)- and he commented that it was rather like there business/1st of 10 years ago, but with 2nd class service....
Is it bed time yet?????
