The line for bag-drop wasnt too long, but it was a two line system and wasnt being handled efficiently (partly due to the behaviour of a passenger at the front of one line who kept letting everyone from the other line go ahead, even though we had been on line longer than they had been). The security line wasnt too long and we were through it fairly quickly. There was a bit of confusion as we arrived at our gate well before the boarding time, only to see a long line of people boarding the aircraft. The sign over the gate showed our flight, but it was a full hour before the plane was to depart surely we couldnt be boarding already? Fortunately someone seated at the gate heard us talking and told us that the sign was incorrect and the people boarding were headed to EWR.
Soon after, sure enough, there was an announcement about a gate change for our flight. They could have saved a lot of confusion if they had just bothered to correct the sign over the gate. We saw the plane arrive at the gate we would now be departing from, and figured we might be delayed. However, the turnaround was surprisingly quick and we were boarded soon after. We were delayed, however, by the queue of planes for departure. We sat in row 7, not an exit row, but still plenty of legroom. We opted for the $1 upgraded headphones, which were available when we went to board. We had no interest in the 3 movie choices, but entertained ourselves watching DirecTV for the duration of the 2 hour, 23 minute flight. With 36 channels there were a lot of options. It was a pretty smooth flight, unlike the flight down. We were put in a holding pattern at JFK and arrived slightly late. It didnt matter much to us as we had a 4 hour cushion between flights. We got our bags and took the AirTrain over to T4 to check in for our VS flight.
