Anyway check in at LHR was very quick- 5 minutes, we hadn't checked in online, but those who had and were in the bag drop queue numbered about 25 so bit of a queue there [:)]
We went straight to security and this took about 20 mins, lots of flights leaving during the next 2 hrs at the end of the day. Afterwards a quick coffeee then called for boarding.
We had Y seats on the upper deck of the A380 which means you get to sit in a different boarding gate with the first and business passengers and also get to board with them ! Boarding was quick and efficient, we were welcomed on board by one of the crew as we found our seats, managed to snag exit row so lots of leg room. welcome drink given and hot towels.
Take off was spot on time and the captain told us the flying time would be about 30 mins less due to the tail winds, excellent as we had a 55 min connection time at SIN to KUL.
As the flight was @ 2200hrs the meal was served very quickly and the drinks service was on request to enable passengers to sleep.
Meal was very nice, chicken and potatoes is all i can remember and served with proper metal cutlery.[^]
After the meal i managed to drop off for 5 hrs (never slept that long in Y before) Once i woke up i asked for a drink and was served very quickly (definantly an advantge to sitting in Y on the upper deck) Then settled down to watch IFE, watched Quantam of Solace, and then another meal served, but wasn't hungry so didn't bother.
Crew were very visible and every 45-60 mins were coming round with drinks water/tea/coffee/juice and snacks. The Chief Steward even came round and said hi.
Managed to drop off again and next thing i know we are coming in to land, so was a very quick flight for me. Even though the captain had said we would be in early we landed spot on time.
As we had a 55 min connection the FA said she would get us off first which she did, upon walking up the airbridge we were met with signs to which gate our next flight was at. Imagine my horror when i saw it was at another terminal.[n]
Anyway off we went, the signs said that it was a 2 min walk to the train then 2 mins on the train to the next terminal. We boarded the train and got to terminal 2, from the train our new gate was 4 mins walk.
We arrived at the gate and boarding was in progress, we went to board and the agent said that we had about 20 mins yet if we wanted to refresh ourselves after our long flight ! Quick refresh break then onboard for the next leg. All in all it took no more than 13 mins from off one plane to on the next very impressed [y]
As we boarded we were welcomed on board by a FA who actually took our hand luggage from us and took us to our seats [^], he put the bags into the overhead locker and asked us if we needed a drink as we had just arrived from LHR ! What service !
Captain said there would be a short delay in take off as we were just waiting for 2 connecting passenegers whose plane was a few mins late, they boarded and we took off 5 mins late.
Flight time to KUL from SIN is only 40 mins but that said the crew managed 2 rounds of a drinks service, and the time was easily made up even landing a few mins early.
Straight off the plane and through immigration with no queues and polite immigration officers who actually welcomed us to their country [:)].
Now to the baggage reclaim, the bit we had been dreading, with such a quick connection we weren't that hopeful our bags would make it, BUT they were the first 2 off within 30 seconds of us arriving at the baggage claim.
Overall i have to say the SIA crew on both flights were marvellous, service was excellent, planes ran on time if not early and the connection was a breeze. Now why can't all airlines be like that [?]
