SQ238 MEL-SIN 23 APR 10 (BUSINESS)

Dissapointed when checking in to find that I was not on the scheduled A380 as all 380's had been diverted to European routes to help clear back logs caused by volcanic ash situation.

Checked in efficently to 777/300

Singapore Airlines lounge at Melbourne airport is clean & well looked after but pretty small with not much of a food offering.

Once on board all was well, seat was massive,think it is called the sky seat.


Fortunately for Virgin they do not compete on routes with Singapore because everything in the on board experiance was better than my beloved VS.

Crew were delighful and very attentaive.

I was addressed by name each time I was served food or drink.

Seat was IMHO far superior to the Virgin "cattle pen"

Meals served were of a very high standard.

I know that Virgin own a chunck of Singapore Airlines, or maybe it is the other way around. Virgin Senior Management should spend time looking at Singapores on board offering.

After leaving this flight I boarded SQ870 to Hong Kong and was greeted with a "welcome back on board" & enjoyed the same standard of service on this flight.

Also managed a bit of celeb spotting when I stood next to Gordon Ramsay on the shuttle between terminals at Changi airport.
