And, so, all good things come to an end and we had to bid goodbye to Hawai'i.
We had an early start, as we needed to be at check in at 5:30am. HNL airport was very quiet at this time, in fact I'm sure we were the only 2 people there at times!
This time we tried the Hawaiian premier lounge on the 2nd floor. Again, drinks and snack packs only on offer. We did wander outside in search of breakfast, but could only find uncooked bagels at Starbucks – not my idea of breakfast.
Again, no flight announcements, but we made our way to the gate in good time and boarded soon afterwards.
Had a pre-flight drink and waited for take-off. We were slightly delayed, but with a promised flight time of only 4 hours 45 minutes, we would still be in LA ahead of schedule. y)
If I'd thought the outbound flight was bumpy, the return was even bumpier and the seat belt signs were illuminated far more than not. Again, this was not enforced in the first class cabin and pax were free to use the bathrooms.
We had breakfast served on this return flight. There was fresh fruit salad, a blueberry muffin and a meat-filled omelette. There was also a warm bread roll. All fairly acceptable air plane food. After breakfast, we were offered a chocolate ice cream dessert – not something I expected straight after breakfast and actually the majority of pax declined this.
Again the crew were professional and courteous throughout and were on hand for extra drink runs.
Sadly, though, there were no flowers in the first class loo on this return leg.
On arrival at LAX, we taxied and parked next to the VS plane that would be taking us home, G-VROC, Mustang Sally.
