Well after a good couple of days in Singapore it was time to go to Sydney via HKG to connect with VS200. We arrived at the airport around Midday and were wisked into a hotel lobby like room where they checked you in. They were able to check our bags all the way through to SYD which was a bonus. We left this lobby like area through a side door and were told to skip the bag screener. What????? We did as we were told and made our way through immigration. We headed up to the lounge straight away.

I have to admit, I was very disapointed with the lounge. For SQ home turf its very poor compared to the clubhouse in SFO, JFK and not to mention LHR. I felt it was poorly stocked with snacks. It seemed a bit dull for my liking. We left the lounge a bit before boarding and went in search of the huge a380 model but was told it had been taken away. Probably taken away to change the date from 2006 to 2007.

As we made our way to the gate, there was no sign of any priority boarding like there was in HKG. This was mainly due to the security check being done at the gate. So instead the lamb decided to create our own priority boarding by skipping the queue as I looked in the opposite direction to hide my embarrassment. Anyway got through security quickly and headed straight onto the plane with a detour via the connexion by boeing man to collect a free voucher.

Settled into seat 4A on a 747-400 9V-SPA. We were offered newspapers and drinks before take off. Menu's were also passed out and I was suprised to find a civialian option in the form of a chicken breast. We pushed back a bit late and the captain announced a flight time of 3hrs20mins.

Take off video to appear here soon!!!!!!!

We were offered drinks soon after take off and they took our orders for lunch. Krisworld was fired up soon after that followed by the connexion by boeing service. Had the chicken breast for lunch (quelle suprise) and it was actually quite good. Listened to some music and watched a bit of Father Ted and King of the hill. Durnig all this the crew kept comming around refilling our drinks. The cabin was relatively empty with only 5 or 6 of the 12 seats taken.

I asked the crew if I could go down to Raffles to take a look. Instead I was given the guided tour. Everthing from how to use the seat to the tray table. The seat is a flat one but is slightly angled, not as much as the j2000 though. I was then accompanied back to my seat and ask to compare the two seats. Well as seat Raffles definitely wins, much more comfortable when upright. But if you want a good nights sleep then the First class seat wins due to being fully flat and much wider.

I then descibed to the crew the Upper class suite but I think the way I was describing it to them at first made me out to be a furniture sales man trying to sell them a 3 piece suite for their living room. So onto the laptop to show them pic in which they were impressed but didn't seem to worried about the threat it posed.

The captain then came on and announced a further delay, claiming that ATC had requested them to slow down. Eppppp. As we had a tight enough connexion to transfer onto the VS200 to SYD, we asked for assistance once we left the aircraft to get us checked in in time to make the flight.

We started our descent into a very cloudly HKG shortly after and landed on runway 25 right. We took the longest way to taxi to the gate which ment we passed the stricken G-VWKD and of course the airport fire crew still playing volleyball out front of the station (do they actually do any work). We pulled into gate just as our plane (G-VGAS) was landing. Once out of the plane we were given clear instructions on where to go and about 15mins later we were in a busy clubhouse.
