Not having easy access to a computer I used the kiosk check in on arrival at Sydney Airport and after scanning the bar code on my eticket receipt I chose seat 28A and printed my bording card. I proceeded through security and had some breakfast. The airside area in the Virgin Blue terminal is far superior to Melbourne even though they were still in the process of refurbishing.
Boarding commenced at 1050 and as was quickly completed as only about 70% full. Again greeted by first name at the door.
Staff were just as friendly as the out bound leg and equally professional. In fact the steward had recently won a national award for his safety demonstration skills - we were informed. Again 'live' demonstration and we were off. Trolley service was available and otherwise uneventful flight.
Landed back in Melbourne on time and walked off the plane and out to bus stop in a few minutes.
For a short flight I don't know what they could do to improve the service. I especially like the 'Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls' greeting preceeding all annoucements. I found it took some of the stuffiness out of the experience and lightened the mood.
For those who may be interested both flights were on a B737-800 with blue leather seats (red in the headrest area). I am not enough of a spotter to write down the aircraft registrations - sorry.
Score 9.5/10 again (I would never give a perfect score as it would lead to complacency!)
